Why should we meditate? When do I meditate? How do I meditate? Do I need anything to meditate? Where should I meditate? These are just a few of the questions people have about meditation. We are going to, hopefully, answer a few of these questions or at least help start you on your path to meditation.
Let's start with where to meditate. You can meditate almost anywhere. Do not try to meditate while driving or operating any type of heavy equipment. In order to make your meditation the best experience you can there are a few things to look for in a place. One of those is someplace you will not be disturbed while meditating. Is the temperature comfortable and is there a place to sit or lay for an extended period of time?
Do you need anything specific during meditating? The simple answer is no. Does that mean you can not use items to help you during your meditation, of course not. There are many items that are specifically designed to help you be more comfortable and have a better experience when meditating. A few examples are seats, stools, cushions and more designed for meditation. These type of modalities are especially useful when you are planning a long meditation session. They help keep your posture aligned.
Next, why should I meditate? This answer is different for each person and can be different each time you meditate as well. Some use the act of meditation to grow their spiritual journey. A few other reasons are to help with sleep, anxiety, depression, trauma, past life regression, stress and so much more.
In conclusion there are a variety of reasons, many different places to choose to, modalities to help and very few things needed for you to start on your meditation journey.
The next thing is how to start. How to start will depend on a few different things. How much time and how often do you plan on meditating? A simple thing to start is using some guided meditation that are only 5-20 minutes long. There is no need to try to start with an hour meditation first thing. That is just setting yourself up for failure. Starting with a shorter meditation and working your way up to longer times can increase your love of meditation. It could seem like a chore at first and could turn into something you love.
Let us know what questions you have about meditation and we will go over starting your journey in our next post. Have a blessed day and as always sending love and light.
